Palazzo Castelluccio to open its doors in 2026, to become a Rocco Forte-designed hotel.
Palazzo Castelluccio is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture in the heart of Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its beautifully frescoed ceilings, giant crystal chandeliers, period furnishings and works of art, to become a Rocco Forte-designed hotel in 2026.
The History:
Built in 1782 by the Marquis Lorenzo del Castelluccio, the Palazzo originally had 105 rooms, including a music room, a chapel and a ballroom.
This was one of the most important buildings rebuilt 100 years after the terrible earthquake of 1693, which almost completely destroyed the city. In line with a new wave of architectural styles of the time, it was built with locally sourced compressed limestone, which took on a golden honey-colored glow when exposed to sunlight. Consisting of approximately 100 elegantly voluminous rooms, it is a treasure trove of decorative objects and unique pieces. In contrast to the predominantly Baroque architecture of Noto, Palazzo Castelluccio, opened to the public for the first time in 2018, is characterized by a neoclassical style. The building is a story of timeless elegance, with blue silk walls illuminated by majestic crystal chandeliers, carefully restored original Caltagirone ceramic floors, and outdoors surrounded by palm trees and bougainvillea. The magic continues in the lush gardens.
Thanks to the restoration of the ultra-luxury hotel group, you can enjoy the beauty of one of the largest and most fascinating buildings in the city in the Baroque valley, with 31 refined rooms inside this meticulously restored 18th-century palace.
The approximately 5,000-square-meter Palazzo is the third addition to the Rocco Forte collection in Sicily after Hotel Villa Igiea in Palermo and Verdura Resort in Sciacca. The Palazzo Castelluccio hotel will offer a restaurant, a bar, event spaces, a spa, a gym, in addition to the magnificent garden.
The rooms?
Think of the style of Rocco Forte and the interior designer hired by the company. Undoubtedly, each room will focus on modern comfort to blend with the heritage of the building. Beautifully decorated trompe-l'oeil walls, fine fabrics and antiques from the most famous shops to create a unique atmosphere of refinement and elegance.
